The names’ Slo-Poke (S.P) my biological name is Robert spruill. I started writing music at the age of 13, but didn’t become serious about it until my junior year in high school. I was featured on a compilation which gave me local notoriety. Writing for me was the easiest was the easiest was to express how I felt about whatever was going on in my life at that time. Its what I like to call “self therapy”. I have won numerous talent shows as well as emcee battles while perfecting my craft throughout the years. As we all know trends tend to come and go in this culture we call hip hop but I have managed to stay a float by being dedicated and true to myself in what I represent as an artists. I have opened up for veteran platinum selling artists such as Scarface, Bone Thugs and Harmony, The Roots, Digital Underground, and The Luniz. As for the newer faces I have shared the stage with young buck, Juelz Santana, and Mike Jones. My first album titles “better late than never: was released in the summer of 2004. It was not just an introduction of me as an artist but it allowed listener’s a chance to get to know me on a more personal level. The song “family matters’” gives you an in depth look at my childhood, and my song “last words” spoke to those I hold close to me; as if it was for the last time. I have been featured on Seattle’s Premier Hip Hop station KUBE 93, “What you like” from “Better Late Than Never” premiered for four weeks, while the hit song “your in love” aired for six weeks. With no distribution I still managed to sell 2,000 units independently which caused a big enough buzz for me to catch the eyes of R.Lucien Entertainment and become the flagship artist of the company until my signing with Hi Rollerz Records in early 2008. I currently have 5 solo projects under my belt (1 album and 4 mixtapes) “how I woulda Said It” Vol. 1-3), and The Northwest Spokesman, and my first album released is titles, “Better Late Than Never.” My sophomore album is set to be released on Hi Rollerz Records and is called, “The Appreciation of…my past, my present, my future.” What makes me stand out as an emcee is not just having the drive; it’s the hunger you hear when you listen to my music. I have a great supporting cast this time around and high expectations. This new album gives you a brief background on what I’ve been through or seen as an artist, to where I’m headed now. One thing I learned a long time ago is you can’t deny the “truth”. I’ve sacrificed my whole life to succeed at what I do best; leaving no stones unturned. Its my time. I earned it.
